Benefits of moderate sun exposure

Let’s explore 3 main benefits that we can all get from being out in the sun.

1. Mood booster

Without enough sun exposure, your serotonin levels can dip. Low levels of serotonin are associated with a higher risk of depression, especially triggered during the seasons changing. Going outside and getting some sun can make us feel a lot happier and lighter. It is an easy and simple way for us to reduce stress!

2. Physical Activity

Staying indoors usually means we are on computers, phones, or watching tv. While going outside in the sun encourages us to do physical activities like swimming, walking, playing beach volleyball. By going outside we separate ourselves from our screens and give our bodies the physical activity they need to stay healthy.

3. Vitamin D

Many of us have a Vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D has also been linked to poor bone health, multiple sclerosis, and other health issues. By spending 15-30 minutes out in sun multiple times a week you can get the Vitamin D your body needs.

With all of these mental and physical benefits, it is clear that soaking up some sunshine is a great idea. So take advantage of this beautiful summer and go out in the sun!
