House Calls 101: What to Know Before You Book

If you’ve never had a house call before, you might be picturing something old-fashioned — a black bag, a knock at the door, and someone in a white coat from another era.

Sickday isn’t that.
It’s modern, professional, and designed for real life in NYC.

Here’s everything you need to know before you book your first visit — no guesswork, no surprises.

Booking Is Simple — and Fast

You don’t need an app, referral, or long phone wait.

Just head to our website and call us. You can share your symptoms, and we will book it. Most people are seen the same day — often within hours. If you are in Manhattan, we can often be at your location within 90 minutes.

We’ll confirm your details by phone and you’re all set.

Who’s Coming to Your Door?

Every Sickday visit is handled by a licensed medical professional — experienced, background-checked, and trained specifically for in-home care. In fact, we send Board certified Medical Practitioners, including PA’s and doctors. Most of our practitioners work in hospital Emergency Rooms or at Urgent Care Centers. All of our Medical Practitioners have at least 6+ years of experience and many have worked with us for over 5 years.

They arrive with the equipment they need to assess your condition and keep the visit clean, efficient, and private. No scrubs, no flashy branding. Just calm, competent care in your own space.

What Happens During the Visit?

Your clinician (a licensed medical practitioner) will:

  • Ask about your symptoms and health history
  • Take your vitals and do a focused exam
  • Provide answers, guidance, and next steps
  • Send prescriptions to your preferred pharmacy if needed

Each visit usually lasts 30–45 minutes. It’s not rushed — but it’s efficient.
And if you have follow-up questions later, we’re here for that too.

What It Feels Like (According to Our Patients)

“It was like having a clinic in my living room, but without the stress.”

The biggest difference? You’re in control of the space.
No fluorescent lights. No waiting room. No juggling transit when you already feel lousy.

Most patients say they feel more relaxed and more heard than they do in traditional settings — especially families and working professionals.

Common Questions We Hear

“Do I need to clean up before they arrive?”
Nope. We’ve seen it all. We’re focused on you, not your kitchen counter.

“Will they bring medication?”
Our clinicians don’t carry medication, but they can send prescriptions to your local pharmacy immediately.

“Is this covered by insurance?”
In many cases, insurance will reimburse you for the sick visit. You can check with your insurance provider to see if they will reimburse you (after your deductible has been satisfied.) After your visit, we will provide you with with a receipt with all the proper codes so that you may submit it to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. Most PPO insurance companies will reimburse 80-100%. We are considered out of network for PPO insurance.

Most travel insurance policies reimburse up to 100% of medical treatment expenses. We do not take Medicaid or Medicare.

It’s Care That Meets You Where You Are

If you’ve been putting off care because it feels like too much — the commute, the wait, the hassle — you’re not alone.

Sickday was built for moments exactly like that.
